OTB I had a really hard time with this cube, noting that I think I play a bit stronger than Carter so I will pass a borderline cube. The position is a more clear take than I'd expected.

The score (after 0 games) is: gnubg 2, user 2 (match to 9 points)

Move number 5: gnubg on roll, cube decision?

My method for these pips vs rolls situations is not EPC but does similar stuff. It is based on a method I developed for myself when Hal Heinrich's BOINC program came out around the late 80's.

Anyhow.. I don't have time to give away all my secrets but long ago for money I found out that when a very efficient 28 pip bearoff cubes a 5 roll speed board. It is still a take.

OK so I felt that in the actual position, my side (Blue) was about 2 pips worse than a perfect speed board (actual# is 1.5 pips) and I felt that White was (after much thought and finally noticing the wasted roll when small nembers get thrown a couple of times 3 pips worse than the best 28 pip position (note White has 29 pips)(actual# is 2.7 pips) so I was really leaning toward this be a clear technical take and when I realized that these adjustments lengthen the race slightly and add a bit more vol., I had to take.

I took and Carter rolled 54 and 44 and sent me into the Conso where I finished 2nd .. neilkaz ..
