I think it isn't a misspelling, although since it confused you one could argue it is inferior grammar. Or maybe I am the one who is confused. :o

I took it to mean something like if they ever took stole from me then I might hold a grudge, but I've never played there before. In that frame of mind never would clearly be wrong.
