I like making the 4 point here. 11/5 may look "automatic" but the resulting position is too static for this early in the game. My distribution is far better after making the 4 point, and the loss of that watcher on the 11 point is more serious than it might appear since he only has 1MB.

This way if I'm not hit, I have the opportunity to build a front position that he's got real reason to fear. If instead I am hit, then at least the fact I was unable to split my back checkers this time won't matter, since I'm pretty sure to enter with something that lets me make a good split then.

3rd roll positions are quite varied, but so are 4th rolls. I look forward to the beginning of the 4th roll posts here maybe in 2011 or 12!
