Here is the rollout data for Nackgammon opening 41:
Nackgammon (NG) Opening Position
How do you play opening 41?
Money
Snowie .. [Q R10 T36] 10k 5kT
GnuBG .. [Q R7 T34 s68 S70 W81 V94] 62k 15kT 5k
XG 3-ply [Q R4 T36] 62k 15kTOther scores (GnuBG)
d[R Q1 S21] 31k 20kS
s[Q R20] 20k
g[Q R8 S20 T23] 31k 15kS 20kTKey: Q = Quadruple split (24/20 23/22), R = Run (23/18), T = sTack/Tower (13/8), s = alt split (24/23 13/9), S = Split, (23/22 13/9), W = Wild (24/20 6/5), V = Variant-Up (24/23 24/20).
Error sizes are in thousandths. A letter before the brackets denotes score: d = dmp, s = (gammon) save, g = (gammon) go; else assume money. After the brackets is the number of trials (in thousands, rounded down). For example, "d[R Q1 S21] 31k 20kS" means that at dmp, R is best and Q is -.001 after 31000+ trials (and S is -.021 after 20000+ trials).
Casper, Ian, Fabrice and Petter stated a money preference for Q (Quadruple split, 24/20 23/22), and this play does indeed top the rollouts, albeit by only a few thousandths.
David says, "I always play R here (Run 23-18)," but my guess is that he mostly plays 1-point (DMP) matches, and at that score R edges out Q, by .001 :)
Below are the positions after each of the best five money plays, with the (bot aggregate) error sizes encaptioned.
Blue played Q (best)
Blue played R (-.006, but bests Q by .001 at dmp)
Blue played T (-.035)
Blue played s (-.068)
Blue played S (-.070)
