Note the 1.6% to 4.3% increase in backgammons between the top play and 8/7*/3. I don't particularly trust GNU, for obvious reasons, but I'm not sold on Snowie either, because it doesn't have checker play according to score. It can make a big difference at DMP and DMP-like scores, and similarly, at scores where you don't want to get backgammoned.
