In the first position, I would not run but play 8/1. The reason is that there is no big threat against the back checker where it is, and that White's outfield points are stripped - something may have to give next turn. I am not really sure about this play, as the use of the 61 upfront does not strengthen our front position.

In the second position, I would hop out, because the back checker is under threat where it is, and if White can not point, White may make another blocking point. Also, looks like we would have more chances to return hit after B/18 than in the first position.
