The play to win gammons is 7/4* 7/1, putting 2 on the bar and giving 11 immediate shots. But we're leading 8-0/15, so we need to weigh the difference between leading 12-0 and 10-0 vs. leading 8-2 or even 8-4, if Stick were to win a gammon.

The play to win single games (and avoid losing gammons), I would think, is 9/6 7/1, giving 3 immediate shots (9/3 6/3 looks solid but still gives 11 immediate shots; I don't think the difficulty after hitting in escaping from the 24 and 21 points is worth 8 additional immediate shots).

Since it's not 110% clear to me which play would be best at an even match score (95% clear, perhaps, but not 110%), leading 8-0/15 I'll play

9/6 7/1.
