I don't really use equity per se when I'm playing. I tend to think in gwc for positions, factoring in the number of gammons times the gammon price. Obviously, this is directly translatable to equity, but I'm not using it directly. Is this what your mate means?

Of course, when I'm reviewing matches and studying I use equity, but when I'm considering doubling calculations it seems easier to use gwc.

I gave up on rgb years ago. I realised that there were people there who had no interest in learning when Murat, after > 2 years of posting, stated that the chance of entering against a 4-point board was 2/6. Fortunately, Kit had started GoL.
