Think the rollout needs lengthened? Damn close, and to those who voted to skip hitting altogether sorry they aren't included in the rollout. I thought it was essential to hit at least once here. I can tell you on GNU 4 ply 24/21 13/11 is behind by .035 and 24/22 13/10 is behind by .046.

So early in the game and already reference position time. 52S 32 the correct play is 13/11 6/3* (by over .03). What is different here? The most important difference is your opponent has more flexibility on the other side of the board. He (Me) is more likely to do something offensively if you leave him be. This argues even moreso in favor of hitting. That makes 6/3*, unstacking the six point, part A of the play. Now on to part B.

First, let's decide between the hit & split and the hit & down. Here's the rule in the opening, if you have to decide between splitting your back men or bringing a checker down from the mid and you still have all 5 checkers on your mid, you bring one down from the mid, end of story. That's my rule, that's what I'm sticking to here. So 24/22 6/3* is out for me.

My play would have also been 13/11 6/3* but it's surprising the double hit has gained so much ground from our reference position, 52S 32?, based solely on your opponent's flexibilty and your own want to keep that blot as a target instead of a productive member of society.
