The rake is described somewhere in the terms & condition page, and it depends on the cube value(!) at the end of the game. Let me quote:

"For Single games the rake is 4.9% when there is the BG doubling cube effect (BG doubling cube effect means that at the end of the game the doubling cube is on eight or higher). If the effective doubling cube is on four then there will be 1% extra added to the rake. If the effective doubling cube is at two then another 1% rake will be added. If the effective doubling cube is on zero then a further 1% will be added to the rake."

So in your case, the cube was on one (or zero, as they call it), and the rake was 7.9% = 8%. Eight percent of the combined wager of $4 is 32 cents, so yes, your net gain should be $1.68. Some sites construct the rake to make you play against equal opposition, and BGroom wants you to double your stakes a few times. This only says one thing: WE WANT MORE RAKE!
