It's a term Robertie uses in MBG, and I think he invented it. Robust positions have plenty of spares in good position to use for a good purpose, or putz around with to avoid conceding good points or being forced to leave shots if you don't roll anything useful. The older term "TMP" (Too Many Points) represents one opposite of robustness--a position that's ready to crack in a single dice-barf. Another opposite would be a stranded-anchor position, where you want to run but no longer have anywhere to go.
