I am guessing its because you can be sure as shit that blue will pound on your blot if you dont hit. It is absolutely imperative that you knock out half of his roll. Also, by not hitting, the safest play is leaving a blot on the midpoint, which in itself is 6 hitting numbers - with lots of 'double jeopardy' going on afterwards.

Major advantage to hitting, if blue fails to rehit, and enters on a higher point, you can get past him a whole lot easier, also you can start thinking about flipping a cube too (get that rear blot outta there first).
