Even if he wears contact lenses, he needs a decent pair of glasses for the days they just don't want to cooperate, or they've become contaminated one way or another.

If he's athletic, sunscreen and a hat he can wear without feeling too dorky.

Extra flash drives. Laptops do go down, usually right before exams where you need them. You can get a rental quickly, but depending on what's wrong a data transfer may not be possible.

If the dorm isn't a hotspot, someone in the group needs to get a wireless router so they can network the comps all onto one connection.

A basket, or whatever guys use instead, to keep his shampoo, "products", toothbrush and glass, shaving stuff etc. together, and in his bedroom area when not in use. A bathroom shared by other 17-21 year olds is not a good place to store that stuff! Think at best, borrowers without asking; at worst, toxic mold!
