I think Stick is thinking out of the parental box here, so while your suggestions make sense, he is trying to think of things mom wouldn't think of.

The hat is pretty essential for any morning/day when for whatever reason he doesn't get to a shower before going out in public. Road trip comes to mind for example.

A room deodorizer spray of some sort would likely be appreciated by any overnight guests, noting that a room with 24 hour beer smell is not an aphrodesiac. P.S. don't let your roommates know you have it, or it'll get used up and you'll be left with nothing at the right moment. :o

A decent board for quarters will likely help him out in the popularity department, as well as allowing him the ability to practice.
