duplicate (matchpoints) vs $ bridge

they are the same skill set, just as $bg vs match bg. the outlook is just different. at duplicate you strive for the best possible result @ $ you strive more for the best result possible.

duplicate --- you are stuck with the same partner for the entire event which can be a positive thing while @ $ you usually cut around and being the best nursemaid to the weakest player is a necessary skill set (and you DO want them in the game :-)

duplicate --- you have to try to predict what the result @ other tables will be and beat or at least tie that result (much depends on session results) @ rubber you just wanna go plus. no sacrificing, no going for #s, no doubling close partscores into game.
