The ultimate opponent-factor story:

A couple of friends of mine were playing a long match for stakes. One of them was a huge favorite in both the game and match, owning a 4-cube. The game came down to a bearoff. The player owning the cube doubled and his opponent, shaking with adrenalin, snatched it. First player rolled and back came the cube at 16! That probably would have been for the match, but:

"I'm sorry, I've won the game. I just rolled 51 and took my last two checkers off my 1 point."

"DAMN!!!!!"
