I have a theory, although I have not yet dared to share it with anyone, that cube action in a match may be dependent on the match score.

In other words, when one side trails by a significant margin, it may be correct for him to take a position that is a huge pass for money. This is especially true if there are a lot of gammons involved.

At this score, 10-away/5-away, the trailer can take a ridiculous position like this one, provided that he understands he does not need to be a favorite to redouble to 4. After taking, the trailer cannot be timid or bashful about redoubling to 4 on the smallest of pretenses.
