Is this not a problem in Robertie or New Ideas BTW?!

Keen recollection...partly. I just found a similar position in New Ideas. Problem #13 is diagrammed on the left below, and looks to be a fifth roll position, perhaps 61P-54S-51H-53S-44 (though 53U is better than S). For comparison, I've diagrammed Miran's proposed 51$-43S-44 on the right.

2O ' ' ' '5X '4X '1X '3O

1X ' ' '1X4O2O3O ' ' '3X

61P-54S-51H-53S-44174

2O ' ' ' '5X '3X '1X '4O

1X ' ' '1X4O '4O ' ' '4X

51$-43S-44181

I believe Kit and Hal used Jellyfish truncs to arbitrate the positions in their book, and I'm not sure I agree with their conclusion that K (Kill, Bar/21 13/5*/1*) is best in the left-hand position. Nevertheless, K should do relatively better compared to S (Split, Bar/21 24/20(2) 13/9) on the left than on the right, because on the left S strips the midpoint.

In other words, though I'm not sure what I prefer on the left, I definitely prefer S on the right.
