Help us to Help Japan - WBA & Play65 Online Charity Tournament

No one could have escaped the horrifying news and photos from the earthquake and tsunami that have been shaking Japan. It is too soon to accurately estimate the extent of the damage and casualties, but the thing we know for sure is that among the victims are numerous children who have lost their families, homes and are in danger of radioactive effects.

WBA and Play65 have decided to contribute their share to help the victims of the catastrophe.

An online backgammon charity tournament will be held on 29th of March 2011 at 20:00 GMT. The winner will be awarded with a WBA Anniversary Board (limited edition) with the serial number 113 (a date not to forget).

Entry fee is 10€ only with no rake. All entry fees collected will be donated to UNICEF to support Japanese children in distress.

Japan is one of the most active backgammon nations, which encourages young and new players to get acquainted with the game, by introducing backgammon at schools and youth centers.

Two of the Backgammon Giants are from Japan: Masayuki 'Mochy ' Mochizuki, World Champion and Giant no.1, and Michihito 'Michi' Kageyama, Giant no.3. They and many other Japanese belong to the backgammon online community.

As representative of this large and diverse international backgammon community, we feel that expressing sympathy is not enough. We call you, other members of WBA & Play65 and backgammon family, to join the charity event, support the cause, invite your friends, and help making a difference.
