While I take the study of backgammon theory very seriously, I don't actually play the game competitively. I was, however, a competitive chess player in real life when I was still in school. I was also a competitive player of go and shogi online. I've taken more of an interest in backgammon recently, but I'm in favor of a holistic study of game theory in general. I feel there's a lot of good that can come from studying many different games in turn. Backgammon is particularly interesting because unlike many other traditional games, it includes an element of chance. That makes the strategy that much more difficult to predict in advance.
