Meta-MET Needed for Best 2 of 3 Matches

I have not thought this through completely, but I have had a nagging suspicion for some time now that another level of MET is needed when match format requires winning 2 out of 3 matches in each round. For instance, if you are down in Match 1 of 3, you might have a better chance of winning the next two matches than you have of winning the current match and later winning 1 of the next 2 matches. It is just the sort of MET consideration we make today, but at the match level instead of the game level.

Would this impact cube or checker play? I suspect it would, but I may have fallen victim to a fallacy.

Even if there is a small effect in theory, it may be that it is negligible in practice.
