Curious question: What is the difference between backgammon players?

In Isaac Chotiner's review that Daniel linked to it is brought up that Hakeem Olajuwan did not have the 10000 hours in basketball. But defining exactly what the skill is may be important. If it is defined as playing a team sport requiring athleticism than maybe he did.

I would guess there are backgammon players with the 10000 hours who are total donkey players. But perhaps the skill they were perfecting all that time was being a donkey rather than being good at backgammon.
