I plugged both positions into XG2 and compared the results to my own formula. This is what I found:

In the 130 pip position, the Metric result is .33 greater than XG2 and in the 70 pip race .33 lower; very interesting!

Perhaps, what is even more fascinating, is if you add all the efficiency weightings (page 2 of my article) for each checker in the 70 pip race and divided by 100, you get a figure of 7.08. If you add that to the .33 diff you get a figure that matches the EPC wastage of 7.4. I've already begun to explore this further.
