Question about error rate competitions

In a "standard" error rate competition, where the goal is minimize one's error rate, a player might choose a play that he or she doesn't think is the best way to win the match because of the deleterious effect on the error rate. The most obvious example is refraining from an incorrect cube even when confident that the timid opponent will drop.

Suppose, however, we have an error rate competition that is scored as follows. At the end of a match, we consult a bot to find how much it thinks each player threw away in MWC over the course of the match. The difference in MWC is awarded to the player who lost less MWC, and the other player scores zero.

For completeness, let me specify that the tournament is a round-robin tournament, with every pair of players playing each other a single 11-point match. Your total score is the sum of your 10 individual scores as calculated above.

Question: If you were playing in an error-rate competition that was scored in this fashion, would you always play in a way that you think maximizes your chances of winning each match? Or would you sometimes play differently because of the scoring system?

(This is not a mathematical question but a poll.)
