USBG rating system?

We have discussed the pros and cons of rating systems. With the understanding that there is no perfect one, I wonder which of the BG bodies around the globe have an established one that seems to work acceptably.

My sense is that having no rating system is worse than having an imperfecte one. I recall the discussion, for example, about the Dutch BG Federation having a working system.

Any thought of having the USBG implement the Dutch system? By lining up with the Dutch, we would in effect be linking US players to a pool of already rated players, which would of course provide a quick measure of our ratings.

Hopefully joining forces with the Dutch (or another established organization) could get the ball rolling towards everyone using the same system so BG will have one system as Chess does with the FIDE [?] system.

Thoughts please.
