I changed the subject to catch Nack's attention.

Thanks. I would never have checked the thread otherwise.

The way I see this, since you behind in the race and your opponent is eager to attack you need to stay back away from trouble. So, bar/23. Then you simply don't have a better 5 available. I don't believe this play is right because it leaves no other blots, you just want to be on 23 pt, as far back as possible.

I'm largely in agreement.

With bar/23 13/8 on the board, Blue's equity (according to Snowie eval) is -.121. Move his blot to the 21pt and it goes down to -.150. And to the 20pt, it goes down again to -.163.

Move the blot back to the 23pt, and this time adjust the builder on the 8pt (where the equity is -.121). On the 11pt, 10pt and 9pt, the equity is -.133, -.134 and -.124, respectively. The difference is smaller.

It is worth noting, though, that combining adjustments causes a greater difference than the sum of the individual adjustments. Playing bar/20 13/11 yields an eval of -.210.
