Touch Move rule, wording

In Response To: Touch Move rule, wording (Nack Ballard)

The requirement that you have to keep one hand on a moved checker, under penalty of having the move stand, is sort of in tension with the requirement to move with one hand only.

Let's assume I roll 6-4 and want to look at the play 13/7 11/7. Under current rules, I would probably move a checker from 13 to 7, release it, move a checker from 11 to 7, and then look at the position. Under touch-move I couldn't do that, and if I move from 13 to 7 and leave my hand on the checker I'm not allowed to fetch the checker from 11 with my other hand. So instead I have to do something like bring the checker from 13 to 11, pick up a second checker with that hand, and move both checkers to the 7.

I'm not sure either one of these is too confusing for the opponent to handle, frankly. But if it's one or the other, I don't see why #2 is necessarily less confusing than #1. If anything, #2 seems marginally more confusing since the checker from 13 has to be taken to the 11 point where it doesn't belong.

I think the one-hand rule and other rules against confusing checker-shuffling are worth enforcing. I'm not yet convinced that these other proposed solutions are an improvement over the problems they are designed to correct.
