People aren't attracted to or repelled by a game because of technicalities like this. What kid decides to avoid baseball because the infield-fly rule is unfriendly to beginners?

The infield fly rule is invoked maybe once per baseball game, on average.

Checkers in backgammon are moved on EVERY single play. A touch move rule would not be buried in the minutia of the rule set. It would be front and center.
