Touch Move rule, dangers

but why add to that tally by making it less inviting even to a small group?
I'm with you Leo in agreeing that excessive checker shuffling is distracting. I'm just a long way from being convinced that a touch move rule would attract more players, both new and existing, than it would repel. I think the type of rule change I've mentioned already (i.e., offsetting, and resetting), would be acceptable to a much wider audience. I think some changes need to be made, so that something like this (watch the first 2 minutes) can never, ever happen again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zAIgDC1ZoQ
Why should I be made the guardian of your errors (or you of mine)?
Unless your match has a referee, and I don't see that too often on the ABT, who else is going to guard against your opponent's errors? You will always have to be alert to guard against illegal moves no matter what type of touch move or checker shuffling rule or lack thereof might exist.
