The dice are hard to see, but I think what happened is that while Savio was trying out his first or second 6-3 play, the die showing the 6 got turned to show 5 -- "got turned" meaning Savio's hand must have turned it, since nobody else's hand was there. In the text someone says the observer insisted in the end that Savio play a 5-3 as the dice then showed.

Did the rest of you see what I half-saw?

In agreement with Justin, I'll repeat my suggestion from another thread: "Why not also add, as a recommendation [in the WBA rules], that a player comparing various moves return the checkers to their starting position between tryouts."

Just a word to Leo: as a player, insist on your right to have your opponents play with one hand and "clearly" (WBA) and "unambigously" (ABT). We're all using ill-defined terms in our discussion and in the rules, but when "try out a move" becomes "checker shuffling" that's a hint that your opponent may have crossed the line. At least in my book.
