Hedging Controversy

Date: Saturday, 15 October 2011, at 6:19 p.m.
Player A and Player B are in a qualifying tournament where the winner will receive a seat into another tournament where there is the possibility to win real money. This seat has a value of $1500. There is no monetary reward however for winning the tournament they're currently in. They only qualify for the next tournament. These are online tournaments.
Player A emails Player B suggesting a monetary hedge of $X. In suggesting the hedge Player A specifically states "Because the winner gets $1500". Player B agrees to the hedge.
They play and Player B wins so naturally Player A provides the information where the hedge money can be sent. Upon winning Player B realizes/is notified that he receives no actual money. The value of the seat he won is worth $1500 and he was unaware of this. The tournament rules/payout were available online.
Player B was under the impression due to Player A's email that whoever won would receive $1500 cash and that's why Player B agreed to the hedge. Now post mortem upon realizing there is no money Player B is unsure what to do. Player B said he would have not agreed to the hedge knowing there was no immediate money for the winner and feels mislead by the original email.
Solution?
