A friend sent me this position and wrote: "I played a DMP game against XG2 that seriously makes me question if it able to play certain positions at the level of a human expert. now maybe i am delusional and can't understand things. or maybe XG2 has serious flaws. Now i am an academic, but i am not one of the world's most knowledgeable backgammon players."
Could you please look over this game and tell me what you think about XG's moves as it is trying to contain my checker after the hit. Can they possibly correct? I mean abandoning the 6 point and the possibility of making a prime? or is the bot flawed? and can't grasp such a position...."
My response appears below the diagram.

Looks like XG spaced out and screwed this one up in a major way. I suppose XG does this kind of thing on occasion. In spite of this one major hiccup, XG is still the strongest bot, as far as I know.
