In Response To: Backgammon Ethics Questions (Marv Porten)

Am I the only one who sees a parallel between this hypothetical(?) and the Phil Hellmouth -- Tony G video from a few days ago?

I suspect this kind of thing used to be Standard Operating Procedure among some money players (if intentional). I think (again, if intentional) that it's a black eye for the reputation of the player who tries it. I don't know that I'd go as far to call it a clear cut case of unethical behavior and I certainly don't think it's worth retaliation other than informing everyone I know just what happened. Let the community be the judge. That should be more than enough punishment. It's pretty typical gamesmanship and I don't think it is acceptable in modern tournament backgammon.
