Candidate plays: D (Down) = 13/9, 13/8 H (Hit and down) = 6/1*, 13/8 S (Split and down) = 24/20, 13/8 X (Hit and split) = 6/1*, 24/20 My first decision is to reject H as a weak attempt at a blitz. With no direct covers at hand, Blue would be a bit overstretched. Next, I want to split in order to threaten all boards. White has one checker back, so with his strong board, Blue needs to provoke contact. Any exchange of hits favors Blue. Finally, I will make the 8pt. This makes a key block, unstacks the midpoint, and also provides ammo for a potential future attack. In short, I play S (Split and down). Mike
