The first position is awfully slow to play out, so I'll stop today with three manual trials -- Blue bore off 8, 1 and 4 checkers, I hit x 3, and formed a 6-prime x 3. I think this is a take.

My first impression of the second position is that it is harder for White to win because (1) the points on which Blue will leave blots will tend to be lower and there will be fewer triple shots and (2) the odd numbers being blocked makes it more awkward for White to move checkers out and form a prime without over-extending. But I don't know which side of the prop I like best.

We all should know the answer to both props, since they must be very old.
