I feel the need to reply to Chiva's post.

Chiva can't help but mention how he took a financial hit, and the sentiment on here seems to be that he was victimized just like the players. However, Chiva lent his name to the guarantee. His name gave legitimacy to the event and some of us based our decision to invest in the tournament because of it. However, when the players collectively suggested to Chiva that he lower the rake, his response was basically " are you nuts ? I have to make money ?"

This left a bad taste for some of us, and we decided to not play ( despite the positive EV).

As a side note- the hotel originally was priced at 200 a night. However, some of us were not allowed to leave the premises until we payed cash in full at a rate of 300 a night. I even ended up missing my flight due to their BS.
