A problem from Mochy's blog

The position below appeared on Mochy's blog, and I learned about it when someone mentioned it on rec.games.backgammon. Mochy's succinct analysis of the position is basically correct, but there is one point on which I believe he was mistaken. For more details, see the rec.games.backgammon thread.
