Congratulations to Tobias Hellweg, Who Won Cyprus Twice in 2011

Date: Sunday, 4 December 2011, at 7:45 p.m.

Congratulations to Toby, who has had a great 2011, winning three tournaments: Cyprus in April, Brakel (Germany) in October and Cyprus again in December. He also reached the finals in Portugal in June.

Toby beat Aykut Üzel (Turkey) in the 17pt finals.

There were 64 players in the Masters, 34 in the Intermediate and 8 in the beginners. There were players from 21 countries, including Japan, Sweden, France, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Russia, Greece, Iran, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, USA and several others.

In the doubles, Ufuk Aksak & Erhan Yenisen (Turkey) beat Konrad Fröschl (Austria/Sweden) & Tobias Hellwag (Germany). It was great to see Ufuk again. I wondered but was too polite to ask if he was born in Fukushima.

In the Super Jackpot, the lovely young Japanese lady Akiko Yazawa beat Blachian (Germany). Akiko is certainly close to being the strongest woman in the world.

All of the Turkish players were exceptionally polite and friendly. The Golden Tulip Hotel has a casino, where the tournament was held. The food here is fantastic.

The Grand Finale has 24 players this year and begins Monday.

Thanks to Chiva and his staff for doing a great job running the tournament.

Congratulations to all the winners. I will paste the results below, as they appear on www.chicagopoint.com.
