DBgF announce first Super Grand Master

Earlier this year DBgF introduced a new title system, which Christian mentioned in this post:

Since then, more norms have been achieved by the DBgF members, a couple of weeks ago, one in particular caught the attention in Denmark:

Karsten Bredahl scored the first so-called "bot norm". And in doing so, he scored his 8th norm, including one within all 4 norm categories, earning him the pinnacle title of Super Grand Master (SGM).

This is the first SGM title given by DBgF, and there's a long way to go for the nearest pursuers (who has "just" 5 norms).

Karsten's 8 norms are:
3 championship norms (2 for winning the Nordic Open twice, one for coming 2nd 3 times in big championships)
3 TMP norms (experience norms). These are granted for consistently playing at the very top of the DBgF rating list (*1).
1 ranking norm - given when you reach the number one rank on the DBgF list, with a rating above 1300 (*2).
1 bot norm. Given to players playing 5 live matches below 3.5 PR within a year (*3).

Note (*1):
To get one norm, you have to play 1200 TMP/exp worth of live DBgF approved matchpoints at a rating of above 1200 (which is about top-20 in a about a thousand population). It typically take 2-3 years playing consistently at that level, to earn one TMP norm. If you are constant in the top-5 (ie. never dipping under 1200) and very active, you can get a TMP norm in about a year. There's a maximum of 3 TMP norms per player.

Note (*2):
To date (going back 20+ years) only 10 players have crossed 1300 rating in DBgF, 2 of them are no longer active (not members anymore). Maximum 1 ranking norm per player.

Note (*3):
Analysed on XGR++ Gigantic, one pass, no outplays, all errors count. In live matches, from approved big tournaments, of at least 13 points in length. 5 matches should be approved within one year to get the norm, otherwise the matches expire.
Subsequent bot norms have more strict requirements, dropping 0,5 PR per norm. Thus to get bot norm no. 2 you have to play 5 matches below 3.0, the third norm is 5 matches below 2.5, etc. Remember, you can't take an infinite number of shots at these, since only matches from certain approved tournaments are eligible.
If the format is best of 3 to 9 points, all (or both) matches played in a round, should be under the PR mark to be considered a pass.

Best regards,
Henrik Bukkjaer
