Also many of the entering numbers after a hit either jump (34,35,36,25,26,16) or safety two of the blots (32,31,22,21,11), so I guess the gammons weigh up for the added losses and some.

While I'm hoping to write more about this problem when I get the time, part of the issue with your analysis is not considering how the opponent plays his hitting numbers. Given that the opponent will slot an inner board point with nearly all his hitting numbers because of your 3 inner board blots, it makes the entering numbers from the bar a lot worse than you made them out to be in general.
