Bob and Art's course actually got even more publicity because it took place at the Joint Meetings, which involves not just the MAA but also the AMS (American Mathematical Society) and SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). About 7000 people registered for the Joint Meetings, and the math/backgammon course was advertised in the registration materials distributed to all participants.
