I totally agree Steve. Although legal Backgammon it is questionable conduct because it is collusion.
Some forms of collusion are pretty blatant, but you could do it more subtely by throwing a match by making key bad mistakes. Harder to prove that way.
I think it's clear that collusion to circumvent the spirit of a tournament match if it has ramifications beyond the actual match (ABT/Master Points etc) is definitely something that has to be addressed. If the TD agrees to allow the players to alter the conditions, then I see no issue.
By the way Steve, how many penalty points did you end up taking? I heard your name being broadcast over the Online stream. ;-)
