I think you are right. One of my best friends is a very talented games player in terms of his understanding of the game (and an extremely talented judoka). However, he would often complain about rolls in BG, get into time trouble in other games, setting himself up with an excuse for a loss. I don't think it helped him at all, and I think whining (or creating any other excuses for a loss) is psychologically wrong (and not nice to your opps).

This might be one of the reasons why a player like Kobe Bryant does not want to discuss injuries when he continues to play.
