In Response To: The Golden Rule of ..... Backgammon? (Christian Munk-Christensen)

It was a reference to those not in the arena of play who always sit back second-guessing and critiquing those that are. Generally, they have no known credentials and may, or may not, have any understanding of the game. They often misread and misinterpret -- only seeing and hearing what they want to hear and/or see.

Victor Ashkenazi won a major tournament against a strong field. He should be offered congratulations for the achievement; however, some always wish to demean the successful, in the futile (I hope) promotion of themselves and of their favorites. I think it unfortunate.
