(1) Obvious advantages but few threats to improve, and only 6/36 escaping numbers. Blue leads -3-5? I'd wait on the cube.
(2) Blue has only 2 off vs. 8 off. A 3rd checker off is huge. Since the choice is 13 checkers left and a very awkward 4-prime, or 11 checkers left and a 4.5-prime, I'll rip two off.
(3) I suppose the chances of hitting a fly shot, or stopping the 16 point from clearing for long, aren't very large. But close-out and blocking chances aren't large either, White's a favorite to enter, and if we adjust (by how much?) the pip count for Blue's stack on the acepoint, White has an easy take on the race alone. His checkers are all in play and flexible -- hit one of two or more blots ... fan -> redouble. Market losers? I think Blue needs to move both 16 point checkers past the midpoint, followed by a non-hit, or move one checker past the midpoint, followed by a fan. This might not be a proper double. It's hard to play with 4 buried checkers.
