Did you know that in the United States, May 1 is officially designated "Loyalty Day," "... a special day for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom." By Joint Congressional Resolution, July 18, 1958. Public Law 85-529. U.S. Code Title 36, Subtitle I, Part A, Chapter 1, § 115.

Despite that official status, "Loyalty Day" is not a federal holiday, and I have never known of anyone who got a day off work for it. Or even celebrated it.
