I am still brainwashed from Saturday and did not go thru the matches yet. Did I have this position? Most probably I mispayed it (by rote) leaving 2 or 3 stripped outer points. That would be best in a typical situation - if he had 1 man on the roof and had a good board and I was GGish (i.e. the gammon was not sure).

Having read your posts, and consulted XG evaluations, I see one concept to remember - his crossovers compared to my Nroll position, N to be increased by the wastage because of contact. The way to reduce wastage and create a safe position is to create a speedboard 5/4 5/3. The greedy bearoff 3/off loses almost 7% more games! Now this is too high a price to pay. I was also surprised to learn this position gives only 45% backgammons. And that he has a 2% chance of winning! How self confident we are!
