No, I don't think so. I'm not sure what argument you have in mind so I'm not sure what comments will be most helpful to you. Note, for example, that even though the cube is dead after a double, you can still win a gammon or a backgammon, so it's not the same situation as a 2a2a match. In fact, there's no situation from match play that is exactly analogous, since in Phil's game, gammons on either side are always possible, and in match play, if gammons are meaningful then the cube can't be dead.

Maybe you can give a more detailed argument for why you think one must double on any market loser in Phil's game.
