Making the bar point makes more sense in the 1st position (above) than in the original because blocking the spare on the 24 point has value. In fact 11/7(2) seems clearly best now, and I'd play 11/7(2) 13/9 20/16.

I don't find the second position as clear. I don't care for making the 10 point vs. the 21 point anchor (6's blocked, only 5's and 4's clear, so it's worse than the 9 point in the original). My play would be 11/8(2) 21/15, and the only other play I like is 13/7(2), not for blocking, but for clearing the 11 point, 13 point and the 2 back checkers. 13/7(2) looks quite "clean," actually, while my play is kind of motley.
