Ideally we'd like to occupy the 14pt with 2 checkers to provide maximum challenge to White's blot. But we can't do that, so our next best choices are the 12pt and the 15pt. We could occupy both with 21/15(2) 18/12(2), and that was my first inclination. However, I think that spreads out our checkers a little too much; we'd like to get a double shot at White's straggler as often as possible. So occupying the 15pt and running a checker past with 21/15(2) 18/6 looks better. Although this play doesn't put a checker in direct-shot range of White's straggler, White will usually have to advance that back checker anyway since her #1 goal is to bring it home.
